How does DRR work?

Each time you cast your fishing rod there is a chance to consume durability on your gear (rod, chair, float).

There are three separate parts that can affect this chance.

  1. Brand Stone
  2. Item DRR
  3. Life Skill DRR

These three factors are multiplied together to form one final chance to consume durability.

Brand Stone

An Item Brand Stone will reduce your chance to consume durability on the branded item by 50%.

Item DRR

The current maximum obtainable Item DRR is 91%.

Life Skill DRR

Life Skill DRR is 0% while untrained. At Beginner 1 it becomes 10%, then rises by 0.5 percentage points per progression level to the 60% cap at Guru 20.

Calculating Chance to Consume Durability

Let’s say you have the following setup:

  • Unbranded Rod
  • Guru 20
  • 91% DRR

This will put your chance to consume durability at 3.6%:

(1 − 0.6) × (1 − 0.91) = 0.036

Adding a Brand Stone to this puts our chance to consume durability at 1.8% (exactly half):

0.5 × (1 − 0.6) × (1 − 0.91) = 0.018

Calculating Average Casts

How does this look like for the Grandpa Cron Rod?

It has a maximum durability of 2000. So with a chance of 1.8% this will give us on average ~111111 casts:

2000 / 0.018 ≈ 111111.1111

Without a Brand Stone it will be only 55555 casts, so make sure to brand it!

2000 / 0.036 ≈ 55555.5556
